Loved our stay, excellent value & very nice resort

My wife and I work remotely and decided to be snowbirds for 5 weeks this winter. We needed a place that offered room for both of us to work as well as high speed wifi. We decided to try The Destin West Beach & Bay Resort. The resort has beach & bay access, 6 pools (4 seasonally heated), 3 hot tubs, a gym, a lazy river (not heated), a fishing pier w/boat docking, covered parking, a beautiful beach & a skywalk to cross the main road. The resort is walkable to numerous places to eat & drink. The staff is friendly, helpful and were quick to respond with any issues we had. The grounds are well nicely landscaped and well kept (buildings are currently being repainted to an updated grey & blue color).

We loved staying in the Destin West Osprey L04 suite. This is an open floor plan 3 bedroom/2.5 bath suite w/private laundry room. The suite is roomy, I would guess about 1650ft2. Bedroom 1 is a queen bed & ½ bath. Bedroom 2 is a queen bed & full bath. The Master bedroom has a king bed & full bath w/double sinks, private toilet, shower & jetted tub. All bedrooms have separate entertainment centers with TVs. The kitchen is good size & includes granite, SS appliances &, has all the pots/pans/utensils you could want (blender, toaster, regular coffee pot, Keurig, etc.). The living room (& master bedroom) both have sliding glass doors to the oversized lanai. The lanai was big enough for a table with seating for 5 plus 2 loungers. We also had a private patio with a 4 person hot tub & gas grill a few steps below the lanai level. The patio is at ground level making easy to get to the pools, lazy river, fishing pier, etc. The suite was clean, well kept and everything worked as it should.

This is a rental suite, don’t expect everything to be brand new. There are some stains in the carpet areas (bedrooms) and the couches. The lanai & patio could use a power washing. Some of the dresser drawers have loose slides. One of the patio chairs was broken but still usable. Little things like that. Having said that, I would absolutely recommend the resort and the suite to anyone. In fact, we have already booked our return stay for winter 2023 for the same suite and I can't wait to get back.

Lots of pools, lazy river, steps from the bay and the beach. We rented a pontoon right next door, never left the property. One drawback, you can’t have cups/drinks in the pools. That’s a downer. Clean and would still recommend as a great place to go.

We had traveled to Fort Walton and had the pleasure of staying at Destin West. The condo was very nice. Osprey L04 is a large 3 bedroom unit with plenty of space for 6. The kitchen area was big and useable for a large group. The unit was very functional, but could use some mild updating. Some of the furniture in the bedrooms has draw slides that need repaired or replaced and some of the cabinet doors in the kitchen could use some tightening of the doors. One of the guest beds probably needs the mattress updated, but other than this the unit is excellent. Once of the benefits was the close parking for this unit. We were able to park in the garage which is easily accessible from this unit. All of the kids enjoyed the pools and the lazy river. We would definitely stay here again and would book Osprey L04 again too. Also forgot to mention that this unit was a washer and dryer which was very handy.

We love Destin West and have stayed here many times. We loved the location of this unit as one of my kids loves the pool, while the other loves to fish in the bay. The patio was in desperate need of some TLC (weeds growing through the brick pretty bad, nothing some weed killer and TLC won't fix) but all in all a great stay. We had a great time and would rent this unit again.

This unit was perfect. Although we didn’t realize there wasn’t a sofa bed. Should have though because the max occupancy is 6 for a 3 bedroom. Thankfully we have multiple units with family so we shipped kids to grandparents.

Overall, the condo was fine but needed some updating. The resort itself is great and we usually stay at Destin West; this is our first time renting directly from Destin West and it was an easy experience and nice to be able to arrive early and get bands. The condo was generally as described but needed a little extra effort. The condo’s bbq was barely functional and extremely rusty. The hot tub was hot, but the jets weren’t very strong. No smart tv’s in the condo, only cable. Kitchen had most utensils but was lacking a large pot.

Destin West Lanai Summer 2022

This was our 4th time staying at the Destin West Resort and our first time renting a Lanai condo. We loved the location of this unit; directly across from the lazy river, easy access to the grassy common areas for the kids to burn some energy and close to the dock for great fishing.

While the location is amazing, this unit does need some improvements to achieve a 5 star rating. When we arrived the floors appeared to not have been cleaned, there was sand/dirt on the tile and carpet. There was a vacuum in this unit so we were able to clean the surface sand/dirt when we arrived but who wants to do that on vacation. Even though we could vacuum, the floors left black scum on our feet; likely the floors had not been mopped in some time and feet washing became a nightly ritual before bed. The private jacuzzi on the patio was a nice amenity but chemical balance seemed off, by the end of the week it was turning green.

Other than cleanliness the living room furniture could use more seating space, for a family of 5 there was limited seating. The master bedroom mattress is honestly harder than the floor and very uncomfortable; the other two beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is lacking some useful utensils: cutting board, scissors, large cooking pot, skillet.

We made due with what we had access too and with a little ingenuity were able overcome some of the challenges with this unit; our vacation was still a great success and we will stay at Destin West again; would even choose this unit again if the constructive feedback provided is addressed.

Spent the week over spring break.

We decided to take our granddaughter back to the place we used to take our kids and man did we have a blast. The condo is convenient and generally well maintained. Definitely would stay here again.

Had a wonderful vacation. Weather was great. Condo very clean. A little disappointed in upper and lower patio. Needed a good cleaning and weeds removed. Overall, a very comfortable unit. Had a 2 hour delay in checkin. I should have read our checkin instructions more closely.
