Each year, Clean Beaches Week is observed July 1–7, inviting beach lovers across the country to celebrate, protect, and care for the beautiful coastlines we all enjoy. Here on the Emerald Coast, our sugar-white sand, emerald-green water, and family-friendly beaches are part of what make Destin West Beach and Bay Resort and Destin West RV Park such special places to visit. Clean Beaches Week is a reminder that every guest, visitor, and local can play a small part in keeping our beaches beautiful. Whether you are spending the day on Okaloosa Island, relaxing by the Gulf, walking along the bay, or heading out for a family adventure, simple choices make a big difference.
Visitors can help by packing out everything they bring to the beach, using designated trash and recycling bins, avoiding single-use plastics when possible, and making sure beach gear, chairs, toys, and umbrellas are not left behind overnight. These small acts help protect wildlife, preserve our shoreline, and keep the Emerald Coast clean for future guests. Local beach stewardship is already an important part of the Destin-Fort Walton Beach community. Area organizations and volunteers support beach cleanups, turtle watch programs, water quality testing, and ongoing restoration efforts throughout Okaloosa County.
Ocean Hour also hosts weekly Saturday cleanups across Northwest Florida for those who would like to volunteer during their stay.
