For the entire month of October, the Destin Fishing Rodeo gathers the best anglers of all ages to “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village.” The event has been a staple in Destin for more than 70 years.
Throughout the month there are several events for adults and kids alike, including Shark Saturdays where participates compete for a cash prize to bring in the largest shark.
The kid's Fall Fest is a free event held to help families celebrate autumn, and there's a special Halloween on the Harbor event and costume party. Halloween on the Harbor is the largest Halloween party in Destin. Don't forget to wear your costume!
Participants cast a line to win prizes like fishing rods and reels, trips, money, and more. Deep-sea anglers wanting to participate must register to enter the Rodeo at least 24 hours in advance of weighing a fish. But even if you're not planning on casting a line, everyone is welcome to participate in the weigh-ins at the docks at AJ’s Seafood & Oyster Bar.
Free daily weigh-ins take place on the docks of AJ’s Seafood and Oyster Bar from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm. And, be sure to stop by on Saturdays for big catches and excitement on Shark Saturdays!
History of Destin Fishing Rodeo
Whether or not you’re an angler, there’s plenty of fun for everyone at the Destin Fishing Rodeo, which is held annually in October. Started in 1948, 2018 marks the 70th year for the event! The Destin Fishing Rodeo, a non-profit organization that is supported by local businesses, members, sponsors, and the fishing community, will run from October 1-31.
